Not too long ago, I went to Beijing, China to film a new travel documentary.

The Dumpling Doc, as I like to say, features the necessity of family and food during festive times. As shown in the video, Grandma Zhang and Grandpa Xiao opened their traditional hutong home during Lunar New Years to share with me their craft of making dumplings. We also enjoyed other Chinese dishes, which were all incredibly delicious, and baijiu (Chinese: 白酒), a grain liquor that burned through my core as it went down.

Their care and generosity is something that I’ll remember for a long time, and something I’d like to experience again, especially if it means eating more mouth-watering dumplings :p I might pass on the baijiu, but probably not.

Enjoy the video! And if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

What festive food dishes make your mouth water? Share your thoughts with me in the comment section below…
